The National Council for Metal Detecting (NCMD) has recently presented a planning review document calling for a full metal detecting survey of future development sites.
We have a unique combination of skills that involve routinely researching historical data and investigating ground conditions. Complimenting our detecting knowledge we can assist clients in complying with this potential future requirement.
In April 2026, we completed our first pre-commencement metal detection survey on a small site in Shottisham, Suffolk. Employing two detectorists, we completed the survey in half a day.
Our detectorists are insured, NCMD members. All finds are governed by law and the landowner will have the same right to finds and treasure items as is currently the case.
Although clients can approach local detecting clubs to organise a free event, we may already be involved in the project and have knowledge of the site - most importantly however we are used to being client-facing in a professional capacity and this sometimes means dealing with people at difficult times (a good proportion of our clients are the executors of a relative's estate).
Call or email us to discuss your survey needs.
